Understand the properties of brass tubes and the wire-drawing process.

Brass pipe is a relatively traditional yet comparatively expensive piping material. Thanks to its advantages in heat resistance, corrosion resistance, pressure resistance, and fire resistance, it finds applications across a wide range of fields.

On the Different Properties of Brass Pipes

1. Brass pipes are very lightweight, which is why many people use them for plumbing applications. Both in homes and outdoors, water is essential, and water itself needs pipelines to be transported.

2. Brass pipes have excellent thermal conductivity; therefore, they are widely used in various heating devices to conduct heat. Moreover, brass pipes do not emit heat themselves and do not encounter any problems during the heat-conducting process.

3. Brass pipes exhibit excellent low-temperature performance. As a result, they are suitable for use in low-temperature environments as well as systems requiring pressure. Moreover, the inherent advantages of brass pipes themselves can significantly reduce operational and subsequent maintenance challenges.

On the Drawing Process for Brass Tubes

1. Oil-polishing and wire drawing. The primary function of oil-polishing and wire drawing is to give brass tubes a smooth and aesthetically pleasing exterior surface. Through this processing technique, the decorative effect of brass tubes can be fully highlighted. Therefore, this method plays an important role in the application of brass tubes as decorative panels in household appliances, elevators, and other such products.

2. Dry-grinding satin finishing. Generally, the processing requirements for brass tubes can be met through dry-grinding satin finishing, and excellent results can be achieved after just one pass of sanding. Compared to oil-based sanding processes, dry-grinding satin finishing has lower costs, primarily due to its simple operation and low equipment price. Consequently, it is widely used.

A Brief Analysis of the Performance of Brass Pipes

Brass is an alloy composed of copper and zinc. If the brass consists solely of copper and zinc, it’s referred to as “ordinary brass.” However, if the brass is an alloy made up of two or more elements, it’s called “special brass,” also known as “special-type brass.” Special brass boasts advantages such as high strength, great hardness, and excellent resistance to chemical corrosion. Moreover, it exhibits outstanding mechanical properties for machining operations. Copper tubes drawn from brass are widely used in heat exchangers, condensers, low-temperature pipelines, submarine transport pipelines, as well as in the manufacture of sheets, strips, bars, pipes, and cast parts.
